Looking for a new card around 200 quid

    Hey all,

I've not kept myself up to date on what is the card or chipset or manufacturer of the moment. I was considering getting myself an XBox 360 but having seen some of the games that are coming out for the PC and having just played Call of Duty 2 demo on the PC (I know it's out for the xbox 360), I'm sold on PC gaming again! So basically the money I was going to spend on an XBox 360, I'm going to spend on a video card.

System as it stands is ->

    Athlon 64 3000+
    1 Gig ram
    ATI X600 video card.
(hard drive, big Sony FW900 monitor etc. etc.)

Any recommendations? I don't want to go much over 250 if I can help it!

    Something like the 7800GT 450core 1.05Ghz mem - £233.11 from scan.co.uk

After a few more posts you should qualify for the free carrige offer.

    Dave

    Edit...

    Asuming you have PCI-express??

Cheers for the suggestions guys! 270? ouch.. but I suppose if you're spending 230, what's an extra 40 quid? We'll see! I'm going to read up on those cards you all suggested. Hmm.. 270..

    edit: yep, PCI-express.

With the 3000 you'd be hard pressed to tell much difference between the GT and GTX.

Go with the GT - it's in budget.

Agreed - unless you clock the 3000 and play at greater than 1280x1024 the GT will be fine.
