    Peak Hardware

I bought a 9800pro on ebay, beleaving it to be an ATI card, and on arrival (after a cock-up with payment) it turns out to be a "PeakHardware" card.
    - I've never even heard of peakhardware, some im just wondering if the cards any good?

Looking back at the item, it doesnt state the manufactor at all, just thats its a 9800pro (which it is)
    - But i does have a whacking great picture of the ATI card.
    - So do i have any right to ask for a refund (in return of the card?)

For reference, its Item number: 8733412476

i dont think manufacturers make any difference really. I dont think you could return it anyway as no where did it mention a brand.

and btw you do realise that is a 9800SE and has the horrid 128bit memory bus with 4 pixel pipelines, and as such would be no faster than your 9600?

    Yeah, tell me about it.
    - My dad bought the card, and told him specifcifiacly to check that, but he bought it anyway.
    - He was looking at the picture, which was the same as ones used to sell a load of non-SE 9800's
    - However, its not to replace the 9600pro (in this pc) as such. Its for another pc (which acutally used to have the 9600 in it till i robbed it)

The card pictured looks almost exactly like my old card (which will be appering on ebay soon and won't sell for that much money) but mine is a 9800 Pro 128 Mb.

I've done a google image search, the primary difference that I can see between the card pictured and a 9800 SE is that none of the 9800 SEs pictured have heatsinks on the RAM.
Not all 9800 Pros have RAM sinks, but I think that the card pictured is a 9800 Pro, it doesn't have the 9800 XT heatsink.

There is a picture of the 9800 SE 256 MB on the Peak Hardware site, the pictured card is not the same.

That ebay advert continues the ebay tradition of hiding details in the advert but all of the details are there but the picture is wrong. If you're unhappy the best thing to do is to talk to the vendor about your gripes, be polite and see if you can get a refund.

Yeah, i think thats what i/we plan to do, you never know...?
    - We where careless in purchasing that card, but at the same time, it deffonatly doesnt look like the one advertised. Ive seen it, and its just not the same! (it looks like the photo you linked to)
