    Recommend me a 19" TFT please ;)

I'm in the market for a good 19" TFT monitor.

Price is not too important, but I don't want to pay much more than £250ish. I will pay more if it's really worth it. Less is obviously better .

I need it to play games, movies, surfing web... basically everything, so response times are important, and colours need to be good. DVI. Built-in speakers are uneccessary. Any other extras are unimportant, but would be nice. Widescreens are not desired, as I don't want to distort any games, and I want a standard 1280x1024 res .

I've been looking at this Hyundai:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=168320
Based on a review on THG, but it's a bit old, so I don't know if there are better options available. I've heard good things about some Viewsonic ones, and LG don't have a bad rep either.

Is there a universally accepted 'best' monitor available?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for that.

What are the built-in speakers like? I know I said they were uneccessary, but I can put them to use if they are ok. I was going to get some basic-ish speakers or headphones.

I've been extremely tempted to get one to have on my lappy. they look great, but that pretty much sucks up my money atm.

tbh mate i havnt actually used the speakers on the monitor, i have a Logitech Z5500 speakers at 505 watts so not really needed them, i can test them out for you later if you want to know for sure

Matt1eD i know what you mean, i just bought 2 this month, gonna be a tight month but oh so worth it

Don't bother johnny, They probably won't be better than the ones I'm currently using. I'll get some headphones or something.

I'd only need them when I'm home from Uni. I normally use Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers, and I used to have some Medusa headphones at home, but they went bang a few months ago .

£305 is too much really, although it looks good, and I like the LG brand...

The Viewsonic and the Hyundai are leading at the moment. Any other suggestions?

THG have just posted up a roundup of 19" monitors available:
    http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/...ion/index.html

The 2 highlighted are the Viewsonics VX922 and the VP930.

They say the 930 is great for everything but gaming, and the 922 is great for gaming, but poor for everything else (particularly movie watching).

I do a lot of gaming, but I also watch a lot of stuff, and I do some programming, so I need clear screens there. Are either of these any good for me? They are a little pricey too.

Anything by samsung is always great. And their zero tollerence on dead pixels makes it better

I think I've settled on the VX922, which bizzarly is slightly cheaper than the lower spec 924 right now on Scan.

Now I need to sell my old AGP 6800GT and A64 3200+ S754 to try and soak up some of the damage!

EDIT:: Although, having said that, I'm now reading good things about the Dell F1907FP. Any thoughts?
@herulach: How's the LG for games? It's back on my shortlist .

I'd still reccommend one of the hyundai's seen several of them in action, and they're good. Very little plastic around the edge of the screen, not bad looking stands etc. Also pretty good on price I just bought a 17" one with a dead pixel from a clearence shelf, and have managed to get rid of it fairly easy too. Very happy with my 17", so i'd reccomend the B90A or the B91A (only real difference is colour)

I want DVI, so the L90D+ is on the list. I have a friend who has a 17" L70D, and it's very good, but they dont game on it (use it for CAD and DV editing).

    The list is as follows:
    Hyundai L90D+
    Viewsonic VX922
    Viewsonic VX924
    Viewsonic VP930
    LG L1980Q

I'd like to stick to scan, as I can go there myself and collect the monitor, as well as take it back (if needed ).

More comments on these monitors, plus any other recommendations please. I'm still on the fence, as the VX922 has lost the lead to the LG and the Hyundai...

Well, my VP930 arrived on Friday and I'm pretty pleased with it. I can't see why anyone would have a problem with it in gaming. I can't notice any blurring.
