    Found a 19" tft that does 1600x1200!

Was just checking the today only page on Scan, and look what I found:

    19" Iyama H1900 Ivory
    19" Iiyama tft H1900 Black

Is this going to be a regular thing now for 19" tft's? I remember only seeing one other 19" tft that could reach that resolution but was discontinued. It was also by Iiyama. Have just noticed it only reaches the 1600x1200 res through dvi only. Also the price is alot more than other 19" tfts. I suppose this is due to all the other goodies this tft has, Ultra high contrast of 1000:1 and the 12ms response.

I'm just really hoping other tft manufacturers start to take note!

    It's a 1280x1024 panel.

    The hint is here:
    Resolution: 1.9 megapixel (1600 x 1200 downscale - digital input)
    also
    ... a physical resolution of 1280 x 1024 ...

The downscale thing mean it downscales 1600x1200 to 1280x1024 for display. Yuck.

tbh, i dont think manufacturers will ever start piling hi-res into small tfts because as it is just as expensive as high-res on a large screen.. whats the point (aside from laptop displays)

I had a 20" 1600x1200 tft on my desk at a prevous Job. It was a Iiyama, though I don't think it was that model, as it had a build in USB hub, and two DVI inputs. Aparently it cost my boss close to a thousand pounds when he brought it in spring 2004. It was very nice to work with, and if you have the budget I suggest you consider one. I especaly liked using it in portrait mode.

1600 x whatever on a 19" TFT - isn't the font size going to be very small for normal office work? Will we need super vision?

Laptop screens are allready much smaller with similar resolution to a 'regular' desktop TFT.

on a laptop with a 15" 1600*1200 screen. VERY bad viewing angle, but if ur using it on ur lap/desk, rather than watching a DVD from a distance, it kicks arse, drives me nuts that my tablet is only 1024*768
