Alright, I'm getting the 'buying new things' itch again.. So is it worth it if...

....I sell my X1800XT 512MB and get a X1900XT 512MB? My mate finally gave me back some cash he owed me since Xmas 2004

The permanent rig running to run this card,

3200+ Venice @ 2.4Ghz (Motherboard limited, so basically the highest I can go)
    2x1GB sticks of C2PT

Is the extra 10-15fps (generalised, I know) worth the extra £70 odd If I sell this X1800XT for £190?

..... Or do you think I should spend that £70 somewhere else like getting some bits for say a VF900-Cu + CNPS9500-AM2 and some Green Neon tubes to go with it?

Id keep it myself. do you plan on getting Conroe? Why don't you pair the X1800 with the 3800+ Dual Core in your sig?

The X2 is going full time into doing processing sync with the Opteron acquisition station in my lab..

I tried using the Venice to do it, but just wont cut the mustard.. so I have to give up the dual core for now until I get enough cash to get another X2..

I will probably sit the first part of Conroe out.. Probably until more solid K8L performance details surfaces..

Well yes mate I would get the X1900, you will be thankful (no end) for the increased performance benefits that you will get in games like UT2k7, Oblivion, etc that are all shader intensive. And anyway its a more expensive card so it has to be better .
Anyway I hope that this has helped you!

Man its late, I been playing UT2k4 :O

I completely disagree with the last two replies... £70 for a much better gaming experience... its a no brainer tbh

I'd rather convert it to pints using a funny technique called "purchasing" and drink the results. Money doesnt taste very nice

I would go for the x1900 if you can sell your current card for 190, otherwise method one is good ^^

Hmn.. pretty mixed from the looks of it..

Well, no one really knows how bad does an X1800XT will do with games like Crysis and UT2k7.. in all honesty.. this card is more than capable of handling anythign today at res 1440x900 (which apparently is the max I can run) with every possible things turned on inclusive of all those HQAF or QAdAA..

And I've just painted my case white.. so I might actually go with spending the money on some mod kits..

Why not sell your CPU instead and put the money towards a new CPU, or sell your motherboard and clock the venice higher? Although I will certainly suggest getting a cooler for the X1800 as well.

And you'll venture in neverland stripped naked..

Well, I don't seem awfully limited with this board (apart from the awfully low HTT).. and I cant be bothered formatting the system again to fit a new board.. or unless the AT8-32X suddenly drops to £80...

But seriously, is 2.4Ghz a little low-ish? I mean.. I feel we're kinda pampered by Opterons with all those 2.8-3.0Ghz limits. 2.4Ghz feels mighty responsive.. and I had a 3500+ (which got fried.. dun ask) up to 2.7Ghz before and it doesnt feel taht much different..
