Are There Any 7900GTX That Work Without Problems?

If so, what make/model and where are they in stock?

    thanks

and if you have a 7900gtx that has problems, would you be kind enough to say what they are here please.

My duffer is an XFX 7900GTX standard oem version. PV-T71F-YDLB is the part number.

Problems include, corrupted desktop, dots, black blocks, parts of the desktop missing, wont run 3dmark06 without bsod/freezing, struggles with F.E.A.R. and also underclocks itself to 630/800 and then corrupts the desktop in the process!.

so any that work, or is it a no hoper?

    cheers

I believe the BFG are very good heard good things about these! but i could belive the XFX are not the best in production unless you talk about the high end models still, i prefer bfg. PLUS you get lifetime warrarnty from them. good luck.

so if anyone has GOT a 7900gtx that works without artifacting and other issues, can you please let me know here

I just RMA'd a card with XFX, good customer service. They'll probably send you to the supplier with it being so new though.

I just wish 7800GT's werent so big had to remove a HD to fit it back in

Anyway back on topic, it may be an idea to get the least flashy card available, or just keep buying a card and RMA'ing it until you get one that works
Then again getting two bad cards in a row, would be seriously bad luck.

I don't think the problem with the 79 series is actually manufacturer specific, I think it's actually a bad batch of chips from nVidia themselves.

Looks like my 7900 GT (XFX) will end up going back too, the artefacting seems to be getting worse with anything over stock clocks (430/1370)

I could blame it on a number of things, but the sheer amount of things I've read about this shows it's a batch problem and nVidia won't own up to it being thier mistake.

theres lots of speculation on what the problem actually is, and i would guess at it not being a bad batch because it spans most of the manufacturers and seems to have been going on since launch to now with no resolution (apart from evga who have alledgedly released some new ones).

so does anyone currently HAVE a 7900GTX that works? (note the emphasis on the word "HAVE")

i was looking at that x1900xt for £240 out of stock now though, but i was impressed with the 7900gtx before it died, so if i can get a working one of those, all the better, thats why i want to know which ones seem to be free of the bug

it is a small bug and I think when you RMA it they give you a brand new revision, but thats only from what I've read around about...

that XFX one that i have sent back to scan was the latest revision aparently, it had a bios that was much later than anything i could find anywhere.. also when you rma a card to XFX they send you a refurb, that happened to me (and many other miffed customers at the time) with a 7800gt, so i sent it back to scan for a refund. i would much rather buy a new card that works without having to return it
