Did your 9800SE AIW mod fine ?

Just wondering what the percentages are really like on the mod successes of the 9800SE AIW's, and also are the hercs better modders ?

    Thumbs up Sure did

    Yes mine modded perfectly.

Bought from Lowestontheweb for £144 it's a generic no name one.
It even outclocks a real 9800 Pro when i push it.

I don't think the Herc would softmod any more than the others, more like a lottery i think.

I'm thinking that the chances of a successful mod will increase as more people are buying the cards now.
The only problem is that the price is going up too

Bought from [S]LowestOnWeb for £127, and mods fine. Overclocks nicely too (albeit with a Thermaltake Giant heatsink on it)

Now thats some heatsink. From the specs it looks noisy. I'm surprised it fits an AIW card though.

Failed 'made by ATI' mod here.

435/380 max settings so far without it modded so it keeps up with a 9600XT overclocked. Perhaps accademic as its doing duty as a Tivo now with my aging GF4 back to gaming duties.

Edit: Have you seen the similar OCUK thread on this? Bout 66% success there - but alot are early ones.

I'm pretty certain I've been successful, but never really done the ATI thing before (6mb ATI in a an Apple G3 300 AV). I got a score of:
    18027 with 3dmark 2001
    &
5709 with 3dmark 2003 (weird seeing it run correctly for 1st time)

I haven't overclocked or tweaked any settings yet - as I'm more familiar with the Nvidia GUI - Do I have a winner?

Anyway - gonna try a bit higher now - if this Old Speckled Hen doesn't creep up on me.

hmm, interested in teh results of this (donates whether or not i buy one to replace my ti4400 ),

if it doesn't "mod fine", is the card then broken?, or do you just un-mod it?..

the mod is only soft, you just need to reinstall drivers and it will be back to unmodded, and work fine

The Cat 3.9 drivers v6.14.10.6396 seem to prevent any OpenGL games working - any ideas. I'm going to attempt a driver clean-up.
    Games Include:
    Quake3
    SOF2
    MOHAA + addons

Install the OpenGL fix, google it.

Then to re enable the extra 4 pipes copy the ati2mtag.sys to windows\sytem32\drivers in safe mode.

If you run 3Dmark 2k3, just run the fillrate multi texturing test and if your softmod works you should be getting 2000-2600 in that one test. If the soft mod drivers are not installed you get between 1000-1600 points in that test.

I chanced upon that solution yesterday - so the card works fine as a 9800pro, but the AIW features of my card seem a bit vague. Using the original drivers (on cd with product) I couldn't get the TV tuner to work at all - the option to connect using cable isn't available - only s-video and composite - if the cable option isn't available does this mean the UHF aspect is faulty? (tried both main TV aerial connection and a sperate portable aerial)

I'm not overly concerned that the TV aspect isn't working, as I'm more likely to game on my PC than watch TV - but I'm curious to know whether I've done something wrong.

I'm not sure about the TV tuner bit as i havn't used it yet and not likely to for a while.
