The latest driver for my GF ti4200 that will work?

Im having issues with FPS drops and have concluded it down to 2 things:
Steam (being as dire as they are)
My GFX drivers (which are currently on det 45.23)

Seeing as I cant make steam fix what they buggered up in the first place, I can only see changing my drivers as a solution.

So, any suggestions/experiences with the forceware drivers above 5x.xx?
Whats the latest version that will work with it?

    Thanks in advance

the latest drivers still support the Ti4200. I think the hardware will have more to do with your frame rate drops tbh though.

stick with 45.23's, they're the best drivers for the 4 series of cards, the later drivers are optimised for later cards, at the expense of the older ones

Are you sure theres nothing extra running in the background, or somehow your display settings (within steam) have changed?

I'd avoid the new drivers tho

Which games are you getting the drops with?

If they're relatively recent then your RAM is probably causing the drops, whenever the system has to use the pagefile on the hard disk.

That said I'd still go for some more recent drivers if you're playing modern games - source engine games I'd aim for something like either 71.89 or 77.77.

I thought the 4x.xx would be the best, confirmed my thoughts

Hmmm, yea my hardware is dire (will be buying a new pc, but until then) - but the reason why I bring this up is cause 1.6 is a stress to play on my pc (when is wasn't before (not gonna even bother trying to play source :x)), and I've been talking to my clanmates and they are saying they seem to be getting the same things now.

Lock-ups on inputs (keyboard and mouse)
FPS drops when a few things are happening
Im pretty sure its cause of steams last 3 updates (GOD DAMN THEM)

Nothing in steam has changed and my gfx settings are the same.
I guess I will just have to put up with it.

    Thanks
