At the moment I have a Nvidia 7900GS in my computer.However curiosity got the better of me and I bought a X1900GT rev2 card off Ebay which I hope to get this week. However is the X1900GT any faster than a 7900GS or have I just wasted my money needlessly?? I have seen X1800XL cards going for a similiar price - are these faster than the X1900GT or 7900GS?

I don't think theres much in it though. Both seem to be in the same ballpark.
Rev2 cards are roughly the same as the 7900GS. You'll see improvements in shader heavy games like Oblivion and speed reductions in openGL and texture heavy games like Doom 3.Originally Posted by CAT-THE-FIFTH
X1800XL are about the same again - slightly less good at branching shaders.
Anandtech also shows the 1900GT as slightly faster than reference 7900GS but the same speed as the factory overclocked cards (which lots of GS cards seem to be).
Presumably that was a rev1 card, which some report as being superior.
Just describes the card as "reference", so perhaps it is something they were sent by ATI when the card first came out. That would tie in with your comment that rev1 is faster.
Still, even the rev1 has so slim an advantage I don't think I would bother disturbing a stable system with the "upgrade".
Stick em both on ebay stump up a little extra cash and make it a worthwhile upgrade)
