Humax didital TV with built in hard drive

I have recently purchased a Humax TV with an integral hard drive. There is an USB port so I can connect an External hard drive and can copy recordings on to it. However I want to copy recordings on to DVDs for archiving and for sending to family and friends. These recordings are saved in Movie Clip format, which my DVD played won't recognise. I have been looking for a programme to convert these files into mpeg format. So far I've been unsuccessful. Anyone got any advice on, preferably free, programs?

what is the file extension of the files from the TV?

They will be MPEG-2 video, just wrapped up in another container. Even if you strip out the MPEG-2, you will need to do further work to get them read my your DVD player.

You will need to wrap them up in VOB files and have the IFO files created for the disk. Nero has tool to do this, but you will need to get the full version with the MPEG-2 plugin as opposed to the OEM version.

I have a Humax box and I'm attempting to do the same thing at the moment.

I downloaded the programs to my PC and they are in MPEG2-TS (timestreamed) format.

I've converted them to normal MPEG2 with a program I can't remember the name of right now, will check tonight.

I've dragged them into VSO's ConvertXToDVD program and it appears to understand the format. I've yet to do the actual burn and check but I plan on doing that hopefully sometime this week.

If you are interested I'll post my findings and software links later this week.

    TS = Transport Stream

For a DVD player to understand them you need to convert them to MPEG-2 PS (Program Stream). ProjectX (http://project-x.sourceforge.net/) is really good at this

Head over the Doom9 (http://www.doom9.org/) and have a look at their guides.

There several for converting video to DVD and dealing with DVB video streams. Also, all the software they use is free or open source.

Right I've just burnt my DVD of the program transfered from the Humax and it looks perfect.

These are the tools I used to transfer and create this DVD:

Transfer the MPEG2-TS file from the Humax via USB:
    http://www.enigma.eclipse.co.uk/huma...Controller.htm

Convert the MPEG2-TS to normal MPEG2:
    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=395744

Burn the MPEG file to DVD:
    http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

Good luck, let me know if you find any better way to do it!

Thanks for that. I'll try it out in the next few days and let you know the outcome!
