Anyone come across a deadly file manager util?

Well those Vista directories are bullet proof, tried every method to delete a few read only ones:-

From a different partitions with different operating systems
    From a different hard disk
    from safe mode
    From Hirens boot CD
    from using deltree in dos

Thank christ formatting still works, that's what I did in the end, but for the next time..............................

Sounds nasty. Another reason not to upgrade.

You try attrib -r -s -h on the files in dos? Probably wouldn't do anything given what you've already tried, but may be worth trying.

I'm suprised there's not something on Hiren's that would work.

Well it was Vista windows, I had three flavours, two were renamed winold and winnew and wasn't sure how to change all the attibutes in many files, with one command from dos.
As for Hiren I was very disappointed, seems to me there is a market out there for a shareware util that will kill anything , looks like I'll have to wade thru google.

Tried that, but even in a renamed windows (e.g. winold), there are system files etc maybe Vista has made them undeletable, of course I could be wrong as I got fed up wasting time just for a simple delete using different methods and formatted the Vista partition.
But if I'm in another operating system or booting up from a CD, you would think it doesn't matter what I'm deleting, in Vista, from a "distance" as it's only in the old NFTS format.
