    ASUS P5B Deluxe mobo audio

I have an Asus P5B Deluxe and I'm running it with pretty standard 2-channel speakers and I find the sound quality apalling. It crackles as though there's a lot of interference, but is much worse with games than with music.

It's not the biggest problem in the world as I have an old sound blaster card I can put back in, but if anyone knows of a simple fix I would appreciate it. Or has no-one had the same experience?

Not that I use it much, but the audio on mine seems fine to me. It's no pro controller, but certainly no crackling.

    Driver update? Bios update?

Failing that, why not use the soundblaster?, itll probably sound better anyway.

Have you configured it correctly in the system tray thing?

    Good question

I hadn't actually thought of that. I loaded the drivers etc. but left it at that.

I think I'll stick the soundblaster back in though. I need more USB ports so I will have to open it up for that card anyway. I may as well bung the SB card back in. I can always whip it out again if I run out of space down the line.

Dont forget to disable the onboard audio in the bios and uninstall the drivers before you install the soundblaster.
