    Question System Restore Query

I finally received my Mesh PC back after RAM module repair.
Did a few tests and looked OK but one thing I noticed was my WIN XP Media system restore facility doesn't respond. I
looked up the System Properties on the Control Panel but System Restore is not listed on the top of the display window. I'm sure it should be there so any user can look at the check box to switch the facility on or off.
Has any member experienced a similar prob and resolved it. Note the facility did function before PC returned to Mesh.
    Any useful advice appreciated.

Have you tried any of these methods to access System Restore (SR)?

    - Start > Help & Support > Click 'Undo changes to your computer with System Restore' (under Pick a Task)

    - Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

    - Or, run this from Start > Run: " %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe " (copy & paste without the quotes)

    Try running sfc /scannow. G

Thanks for the advice. Yes. I've tried all the suggested methods but no success. What happens is the system restore window appears and a new restore point can be chosen but the activity doesn't take place. Task manager indicates system restore not responding. I suspect it is a corrupted file because this activity was lost in a PC crash - PC never restarted after system restore carried out. I'm just wondering what would be the appropriate file to possibly replace in my OS WIN XP Media or is there alternative repair S/W?

Thanks. I'll try this ploy. My only concern is I don't have the full WIN XP Media Center OS CD, just the recovery disk from Mesh. It may not be good enough to do the job from reading other members criticisms of Mesh who they feel should have provided the full installation disk as part of the purchase deal much like most other major PC suppliers.

The recovery disk will have the I386 folder - do a search for it. Apparently the recovery disk is nothing more than an Windows OEM disk with a few extras - see this post by Mesh's Davey.

Be aware that the 'full installation disk' that some PC suppliers provide is usually an OEM disk only. If required, you can attempt to create a full OEM install disk with the recovery disk - Recovery CD to working Windows install CD. G
