Changing CPU cooler

Well, I've got myself a Zalman 9700LED and now need to take off the stock Intel cooler and replace it aaaand......I have no idea how...
I know the Zalman comes with an installation guide, but they arent always the best so i figured i should ask here aswell. My main issue i bet will be getting off the old Arctic Siver 5 I have on there right now... Also, should i use the Arctic Silver again (i.e. from the tube, not re-use the already applied one) which was a pain to get on right, or put the stuff that comes with the Zalman (which looks dead easy to apply)?

I use white spirit to get off the old thermal paste from the CPU, it's always worked better than Meths or Nail Varnish Remover (Acetone). I would use Arctic Silver again if you have some left in your tube. Personally I always spread the thinnest even layer possible on both surfaces before mounting the cooler. The idea is to fill in the imperfections as the compound transfers heat better than any air bubbles but not as well as direct metal to metal contact. You can always walm the Arctic silver up to make it a bit easier to apply by popping it in an airtight sandwich bag and putting that in a cup of hot water for a couple of minutes.

Prob not rubbish, but you don't know the make, it's an unknown, so how can you make an informed decision on if it's better or not.

You know that as5 is one of the better TIMs, so use that.

there's a review somewhere about the zalman grease, its good but not better than as5

If it's not pre applied then I would go for the AS 5 between the two. However, I have to say I prefer MX-1 (Arctic Cooling) as I've found it's slightly better than the AS5 stuff on my CPU.
In fact I picked up a tube from Yoyotech a few days ago.
