    CPU and Motherboard quiet cooler

I want some help in finding out the cpu and motherboard I have so I can choose some quiet fans. Using SiSoftware, it says I have a Socket 478 Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.53GHz, P4N (Northwood) Pentium 4C 130nm 1.6-3.4GHz 1.475-1.575V.

The motherboard is a AOpen AX4R PLus. It has a smaller fan on it, which is also noisy!

What fan would you recommend for the CPU and what fan for the Motherboard? I need noise reduction! Where is the best place to get a good deal on these?

    Thanks,

    Jon

I would recommend Zalman fans. I have the CNPS7000B which I believe is also compatible with socket 478. They are much quieter than the stock fans plus they dissapate heat better. I got a fan speed controller with my Zalman which is nice to have.

    Try here (£17.99 + Del):

I would recommend spending big money on a CPU cooler, my setup wasn't that different from yours and my CPU was hitting 80C, bought a zalman 9500 and it brought it down to 60C! Which is just about safe!

Great recommendations. Think I will go with the cnps700b. What about the motherboard. Any recommendations for that?

There's a small selection of chipset fans here: http://www.chillblast.com/home.php?cat=147
I've never personally replaced a MB fan myself as they seem fairly quiet to me.

Erm... you've got to be using a poor example of a Prescott, or you've really buggered your cooling somehow mate... a P4C should simply get nowhere even close to running at 80c, no matter which cooler you use. They're quite efficient chips, before Intel went and started cooking P4s.

As for mobo heatsinks, the ZM-NB47J on the page sam linked to I can highly recommended for AMD-based nForce4 motherboards, but whether it's adequate for Intel-based mobos, I've no idea - I'd imagine so, but you'd better have a check on that one.
