Thread: File transfer between two computers using Lan ports

    afaik this will work fine if the cable allows it and the ips are manually set correctly

    go to networking, properties, TCP/IP and set to :-

    192.168.x.n

    where x must be the same for both pcs and n must be different.

    Try then. Sorry if im stating the obvious and you have already done this or similar.

    (yes, other numbers work, but that suits the defaults for home networking, im being convenient)

    Nearly there guys:-

    Now the slave has no problem reading both computers, but the server will not read the slave, only it's own files.....................the slave couldn't read it's own files cos long ago I gave the partitions names like c$, D$, so gave them new names and it worked.

    BTW set to 192.168.20.1 and slave 192.168.20.2 and I haven't rebooted slave yet because of downloading torrent.
