    Itunes has stopped my cd/dvd drive being recognised please help

    i installed itunes a few days ago but when i opened it it said 'the registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing this can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software. please reinstall itunes.'
    so i reinstalled itunes and restarted my laptop, but found that my cd drive is no longer working properly and not reading cds or dvds but windows is also saying that it cannot find the device hardware but it is installed ok im really confused my driver is a tsst corp cd/dvdw please help

    What happens if you uninstall itunes - does the drive come back?

    no when i uninstall it nothing changes and i stil dont hav a cd drive

    Had this one with my dads machine a while ago, not sure if its the same due to lack of info but......

    Have a look in device manager for the hardware, you'll probably have a yellow ! mark in there for the CD drive and an error code.

    And match it up for your error code.

    I found by following the guide (careful as the registry keys are very similar and im sure if you get the wrong one you'll have major problems!) that it worked fine after removing both the upper and lower filters.
