Help: Pc won't boot/post

Hi there,

I recently upgraded my memory from 1GB to 3GB and discovered that 1 of the new ram was faulty. I removed the fault stick and ran memtest to see if there were any errors, to my luck everything was fine. Windows ran as usual with a few crashes (still havn't got a clue what could be the problem )

Yestersay, when I started the PC, windows ran Chkdsk, which seemed to run forever. Left it running, went to work, came back and was told that it was stuck on 40% for a long time and my brother decided to restart and try again. To cut the story short, chkdsk managed to finish... Tried booting the pc this morning and all i get is a blank screen, no beeping, no bios, nothing....

System specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium D 805 2.66GHz *stock fan*
MB: Asrock ConRoe 945g DVI
RAM: CORSAIR VS 1GB(2X512)DDR2 5400 + Corsair Twinx DDR2 XMS2GB PC 5400 C4
PSU: 480W XCLIO SCF/aPFC/PCIE PSU
GPU: 256MB SAPPHIRE PCIE X1600PRO
Hdd: HD160JJ 160Gb Samsung SATA II 7200/8b + 80GB Seagate IDE (cant remember model no)

System temps: CPU temp varied from 47C to 55C (I've once seen it at 60C recently, didnt do nothing intensive though)

If anyone out there could help, I will be really gratefull. Thanx in advance...

Have removed every expansion card, HDD, CD/DVD ROM drives... Still not getting POST. I even went to the extent of removing the GPU and memory, still not post beep error. Conclusion: I think it could be a fried CPU or Motherboard, im still not too sure about the PSU since all Fans seem to be running including the CPU fan...

Anyone out there to help, please... its driving me insane...

It sounds like it may be the PSU.

have you got a multimeter - or a spare (known working) PSU?

I think you need to check that the PSU is supplying the right voltage to all pins.

Alternatively switch PSUs and see if this improves things

I think its the motherboard or CPU, doubt it's the PSU coz all fans are running including the HSF... I don't have a multimeter or spare PSU at hand :-(
