    Checking NVRAM.

    Hello guys.

Recently when I've started my PC up, my PC has been halting on "Checking NVRAM".... However, if I turn my PC back off and on again, it'll boot up as normal.

Should this be a cause for concern ?

It only seems to happen when my PC has been off for a long period of time.

    Thanks in advance.

    - Denic.

    1. What power supply have you got? maybe its not providing enough juice initially?
    2. is there a bios update available for your motherboard

If doing it after your machine has been off for a long time it is more than likely the BIOS battery is running low on power.

Hey guys thanks for the replies ....

I know for a fact that my PSU is giving it enough juice because it's been fine for all the previous months... It's only started to do this recently.

Oh and my Motherbaord is an Asus P5S800-VM.

Any more thoughts on what could be causing this problem ?

    Cheers.

I'd say it'd be best to 1st change your BIOS battery before going further with this one as that does seem the most likely solution.

    I mentioned this to clunk Post#448 & post#451

    Clunk
Yep, mine does it, and so did both P5Bs...I think its just the check for the cmos memory, and nothing to worry about unless it hangs there
I think mine doesn't do it all the time just if you change something in bios like the ram ratio or multiplier these involve updating the dmi pool.

Have you got an overclock on, that may be becoming unstable, sometimes over time that happens.

I'd try clearing cmos then either reloading/re-entering your bios settings. See what happens after that.

Thanks guys but I don't have anything on my PC overclocked at all - I don't really know much about the Bios side of PC's.

So it seems as though my bios battery is broken ?

    Cheers.
