Louder sound

How can I boost sound output on DVD player in my computer. Not enough volume at present. Do I neeed a sound card or headphone amplifier.

I believe some sort of sound device is already present in your system, bruce? Go to control panel and adjust your audio level through "sound and audio device", "advance setting"(I'm not using English OS so I'm not sure about the name but must be something similar). Make sure you set your speaker type to "Headphones".
