    How can I save emails

    Hi,
I have to reinstall my brothers opperating system,

He is a member of some news groups and wants to save all his emils but I think there is about 4,000 of them, the only way I have found I can save his emails to external disk is to drag and drop

is there a way of saving his settings so that I can restore his OE back the way it was when I reinstall

    he uses OE7

    Thanks

Re: How can I save emails

File>Export ??? that should work but if not to do the messages and data files.

go into tools>options then select mantainence tab under that there is one called store folder click that it will show you where the emails are stored put that into the run box from start menu that will then open up the outlook express store folder, then just back up thme files in there and then just re import them later.

It's not an answer to your problem but for the future and for others:- If you use Mozilla Thunderbird, then there is a great backup program called Mozbackup, saves all your settings etc

Don't forget to save the address book. Don't forget to save all the bookmarks or favorites in his browser.

    Thunderbird can import from Outlook.
You can also do this with Portable thunderbird (and run it from a usb stick)
