    Re: P5K Premium / 8GB RAM

Does it attempt to load memtest and stop or does it just not see the CD and try to boot into windows?

Mine does the latter. Strangely enough when I put the Windows DVD in it boots the DVD. And my CD/DVD player did launch memtest several times last week.

I've had time to run a couple of the sticks in the A2/B2 slots with no errors. The memory is pretty tight in there and running with 4 sticks it they do seem to get pretty hot. I'm going to bring home an IR pyrometer from work tomorrow and see what temperatures the sticks are reaching. What would acceptable temperatures for the metal heatsink/encasement of the Patriot DIMMS be?

Any suggestions on how to cool them? The DIMMS are nearly butted against an eVGA 8800Ultra so some of the fan RAM coolers might have a hard time fitting. I have a turiq tower 120 on the CPU to further encapsulate that corner of the MB.

Speenfan reports system 43C, CPU 41C, and the COREs in the mid-30's (34-36).
