new pc build has gremlins

Vista runs fine but when ever I try to install xp or run a game (bioshock) the computer just turns off after afew mins. What would cause that?

OK it just crashed in vista too while watching a HD apple trailer. This a graphics card prob?

Just installed Asus PC Probe and my cpu is at 58 celsius... that cant be right.

hi there, i've just finished my build this weekend. Before i upgraded i played Bio too and my comp crashed. It could well be that your rig is getting to hot and you need more coolers for it. My problem i found out was that i needed to update my motherboard driver after that it worked fine.

does it crash or simply switch off. If it switches off it could be that as said above the temp are to high and the threashhold ur bios has set means it will switch off once its reached to a certain temp. Check for bios updates and also make sure ur cooling is fitted properly and let us know wot temps u get on load and on idle..
