Remapping the buttons on a Vista Remote control

Just bought myself an IR remote for my Vista setup, and it's good, but I don't particularly want to use Media Center as much as they seem to think I do - at least 25% of the buttons launch it. I don't want the power button on the remote to put the PC to sleep either, would rather it closed the current program.

Is there any software that will let me adjust which buttons do what?

Failing that, google "mce remote remap" - that's what I did.

Not sure I understand - that thread seems to be talking about using MCE to control other devices via IR? I just want to change what function the buttons on the remote launch on my PC.

Info was on page 20 something. Unfortunately I posted page 1. Program you need is called HIP or Girder:
