Post Laptop no power from AC

    Alright all

Got A Packer bell Easy note laptop

Problem is with it is the AC connector on the motherboard is Duffed Got to be at a weird angle for it to work.
The port and AC look fine Just think its Problem with the connection of the two.

Any way i was wondering if there is any way i could replace the AC port instead of the full motherboard.
and were would i get a port from??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Not sure I've understood. Is the problem with the dc plug ie you wiggle the wire that comes out of the ac adaptor at the dc plug end and the laptop works or you think it's the socket on the laptop that is broken?

If it's the adaptor thats knackered that you'll get one on ebay that is compatable.

If it's the dc power in jack on the laptop then you'll get one on ebay/maplin/RS but youll need to remove the motherboard , desolder the existing connector (and hope the tracks to the connector aren't damaged) and then solder in the new connector.

Yeh sorry its the port on the motherboard that has gone.

Had a quick look on maplin and RS unsure what one to get only way i will know is get the old board out and have a look

Re: Laptop no power from AC

yeh get one off ebay, i use several sellers, buy solder braid to get the old stuff off. work a small screwdriver under the socket as you desolder, bit by bit it will come up and eventuall off. a final wipe over with some braid & a buff up of the contacts (both sides) make sure you use plenty of solder & dont be tempted to add any glue as a good measure as your going to have a hell of a cleanup op if you break it again

dont bother having a look, as you may just find a burnt out solder joint, if you resolder that it wont last long as the bad contact overheats the area until it breaks contact again. its well worth the fiver from ebay for the right part
