I've added a second hard drive, it recognises it in bios and on system information but it doesn't allow me to install anything to it or appear under my computer?
'elp the newb please

Which operating system are you using? Have you partitioned and formatted it in disk manager (if you are using windows)?
(\__/)
(='.'=)
(")_(")
Been helped or just 'Like' a post? Use the Thanks button!
My broadband speed - 750 Meganibbles/minute
win xp and no I havn't :S
where do I find disc manager?
Go to your START button and look for RUN
click RUN and type the following in to the box
diskmgmt.msc
click ok and the disk management console will open, at this point a new window should pop up in front of the disk management console saying it found a new disk and it needs to be initialized, simply follow the instructions on this window and the disk should be set up for use.
thanks sema, I kinda fumbled my way through it anyway and got it done, shes 35% formatted as I type this!
cheers anyway!
EDIT: How do I thank you for your post using the forum system?
At the bottom of each post, there's a series of buttons. Between "send pm" and "edit" or "quote" is "thank user". Go to the post you want to thank, and press the button.
But which buttons are available do depend on various factors, most obviously your postcount. Some are only enabled after you reach a certain number of posts, and I don't remember the threshold for the thanks system. If you can't see it, that'll be why.
Yeah I can't see it, so I must need more posts
Not having been here too long my self, I seem to recall the 'thank user' button didn't appear until I had a post count of 25... which seems a bit high to me tbh, on the basis that most people that come here, do so for help... they come.... they ask questions.... they get answers.... then they are unable to thank the people that helped them... go figure lol
Anyways, most of us do this to help others, not to get a high 'thanks' count...
Glad you worked out how to get your disk up and running
