I did not sell him a 'Duff' PSU!! It was working when i sent it out. I tested it in a PC and it started fine and i tested it with a PSU tester. All was fine.

I have said i will give a full refund if he returns it and it is not working. Nothing more i can do. I am a honest guy and stand by my word. Look at my Hexus Trust. If this is going to turn into a thread of bad words then i would suggest it gets closed and let me get the PSU to test it. Thanks.

No not yet, I know how to do it, but is there any risk in doing so (ie can the psu be damaged by doing so?).

    It wont, don't worry.
I know you're a reliable and honest guy and wouldn't have sold a dud PSU if you knew it was

None, as long as you don't short it with anything else (use a paper clip). This is the way that actual motherboards turn the system on

Ok thanks I'll try it tomorrow if I get the time. Also just to confirm do you need to place a load on the psu when attempting to jumpstart it?

    Re: Antec PSU Not Working

You don't _have_ to for what you're doing really, but its best to if you can (I'd recommend it)
Some switching based PSU's can get funny is there is no load (funny as in low efficiency, bad ripples on the lines).

I just do it as good practice

I did actually state 'not on purpose' if you read the whole thread. My wording couldve been better....sorry.
It couldve died (if thats the case) at any time.

    Re: Antec PSU Not Working

Tried to jump start the psu using a paper clip and a 120mm fan as a load, but unfortunately no luck.

    Cheers for all your suggestions

    Re: Antec PSU Not Working

Send it back to me and i will test it myself. 120mm fan is probably not enough but no problem at all.

Ok, a 120mm fan was all I had available.

Anyhow I'll send the psu back to you hopefully on Monday.

    Re: Antec PSU Not Working

Sent this psu back to koolpc and according to him it works perfectly. I do trust him so its possible that there maybe something wrong at my end.

My wiring was fine, got it checked by my brothers, cousins, friends, strangers.

I tried the psu in two rigs and tried jumpstarting it. I then got an Antec Smartpower 450, and tried it on both rigs and it worked. Wiring was all the same.

And in case anyone is wondering I did turn on the psu from the back.

Any ideas? I have those homeplugs around the house. Could they have been the reason?

Did you check the fuse in the power cable?

    Re: Antec PSU Not Working

Yep, it was the same power cable I used for the Antec Smartpower, come to think of it I tried two power cables.
