Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E GB Ethernet Controller

    Chaps,

Need some help on configuring the Marvell Yukon ethernet controller.
My little network consists of a workstation, laptop and server connected via a Netgear GS605 Gigabit switch to a Netgear DG834GT router.

The laptop and server both have Intel PRO network controllers.
There is no issue with these controllers as they show us as green on the Netgear switch.

It is the Marvell Yukon ethernet controller which is driving me nuts.
I have confugured it to use jumbo frames and set it to use 1000MBbs Full duplex.

The workstation motherboard is Asus P5B-E plus and the current driver version is 10.27.4.3, date is 19/11/2007.

    Will appreciate any help.

    Many thanks.

It would help if you told us what its actually doing wrong
However reading between the lines, is it coming up orange on the switch or just not communicating properly?

However you should generally set the card to auto negotiate with the switch speed wise otherwise its technically out of spec.
Also, try switching off Jumbo frames and see what happens.
To further troubleshoot, just change one thing at a time and see if it works each time till you get it to work.

TBH, we need more info here to help you properly

Oops! You are right I did not actually state what is going wrong.

The Marvell Yukon ethernet card does not comes up green on the switch.
I have reconfigured the card to auto-negotiate and set the Jumbo frames to the lowest setting, 1514.
And still it comes up orange on the switch. I have to sometimes reboot the machine twice to get the green light on the switch.

The operating system is Vista Business x64.

    Appreciate any help, Badass.

Can it communicate with the other computers at all?
On some switches, the organe light simply means that the connected card is running full duplex which is fine
To check for communication, you need the names of all computers involved.
Go to start and type CMD and press enter in the search box for the Vista machine - for all others, do start->run and type CMD in that box.
type hostname at the command prompt for each machine.
get each machine to ping each other machine by typing ping hostname where hostname is the name of another machine on the network. Do this so each machine pings each other machine. Post the output of the commands here
If that doesn't work for any of them, try pinging
