    8800GTX hot?

aye what's up, i got my BFG 8800gtx here had it for about a year and i was wondering if these temps are overly hot for avgerage?

    Idle GPU Temp: 78c
    Idle GPU Diode: 86c
    Idle GPU Ambient: 68c

when it's under load the GPU Temp can get up to 92c

this just seems high for me i'm not sure though and if it was what you guys think the problem is?

    Re: 8800GTX hot?

That is a little hot for the card, but not excessive. I would double check about airflow in your case, is there any way to mount an intake fan in the section of your case with the card in?

Yeah Mine is running about the same, I have 2x XFX xxx 8800GTX cards which I suppose will run hotter anyway.
    Scary stuff though..

    Re: 8800GTX hot?

I think the problem is the airflow i had a house fan blowing into it before an that doesn't really help but when i have it suck out it dropped it down to 68c an 80c when playin a game which is lower than it was by about 12c

    Re: 8800GTX hot?

i bet the heatsinks full of crap stopping the air getting through the heatsink, if you dont sort it soon the thermal paste will bake and it will just go downhill from there.

    Re: 8800GTX hot?

All the 8800 seris are hot, some even make a whining sound due to the vrms etc on the board. I would say unless you get artifacts that your board is running within temperature spec. Try ati tool if you want to be sure of temps and artifacts together.

    Re: 8800GTX hot?

You could get a can of air and blow all the dust out of it, they are also useful for all your other fans. You could also get rivatuner and manualy set the fan to 90-100%
My 8800GTS is at 56c idle with 90% fan so I think yours is indeed too hot.

    Re: 8800GTX hot?

As everyone has said it will be worth blasting some compressed air through your heatsink, its surprising how much dust can build up, but that card is very hot and those temps dont seem too bad for an G80 8800.
