HIS Radeon HD 3870 - Artifacts??

Hi i recently built my own pc and i've been having some problems with the 3870 in relation to artifacts. I'll try post a screenshot as soon as possible but here is the info:

The 3870 runs at around 45C on idle but whilst gaming it peaks at around 75C. The card has no other PCI cards underneath it so there is plenty of air and space for it (6 PCI slots free). Also i am using 7.12 catalyst drivers. After running a game for around an hour black lines/streaks appear.

Does anybody know why this is occuring??? I've heard that Heat could cause artifacts ?? This true??

GFX: HIS Radeon HD 3870 512MB

OS: Vista Ultimate 32-bit
Fans: - 2x 80mm Exhaust (Rear)
- 1x 120mm Intake (Front)
- 1x 220mm Side Exhaust

doubt its heat.

my 3850 (with the single slot cooler) runs at over 80 when gaming, when it was testing itself for overclocking it would hit 91.

I had an X800XL once with similar artifact problems, RMA'd and scan put it down to bad memory on the card.

Artefacts are usually dodgy memory chips on the card, as Wyoming said. Not much you can do other than RMA it. Chances are it'll just be a one off dodgy chip.

have u oc the card , what game u're playing & resolution u set?

No i havn't oc'd the card and i usually play at 1440x900...btw how do i RMA the card?

Get in touch with the company you bought it from and tell them it's faulty
