Acer Aspire 2012WLCi - BIOS flash issues

I've got the 1.01 BIOS on this laptop and there is a 1.30 version out. Normally I'd bung the BIOS files onto a floppy disk and do this that way. But this laptop doesn't have a floppy disk drive. So I notice that the BIOS can be updated in Windows if I run fla****.exe. What that does is load a dos prompt window and tells me that DMPI or something has been detected which, apparently, makes it impossible to upgrade the BIOS in Windows.

So I thought perhaps I'd try altering the boot device sequence and put the files onto a USB flash drive. Hmm BIOS won't see USB flash drive.

So how can I flash the new BIOS? This is the version with the ATI graphics chip and card reader.

Swap the CD once its loaded with the flash upgrader

    D'oh! Why didn't I think of that?

Oh and I like breaking things. Already go the ATI and card reader working. Just wondering how on earth to get the latest BIOS working.

So I'd need to have burned the BIOS files to a CD beforehand?

Yup, unless you can get a bootcd with USB pendrive support - however, as a general rule, less drivers = better for flashing.

You could open the disk image and add the files on the same boot disk if you like, but it requires the know-how. It will probably be easier to just burn it onto a separate disk.
