Whilst playing video on C:

The video stutters. I'm presuming this is normal but it I thought 4gb and a Q6600 would have handled it...

I'm guessing the HD bandwidth is being maxed out - but I just wanted to make sure

its your hard drive not your 4gb and q6600, if its copying and reading at the same time it only has one head on each platter it cant read and write from different locations instantaneously. if your video was running from ram then you wouldnt get any stuttering. simple. you cant stop it. unless you slow down the file copying so the video has more priority then when you have finished the video it would still be copying

are d&c on the same physical drive? if so thats your problem, the head will be backward &forward across the disc

No D and C are separate drives

Unless the C drive is considerably faster than the D drive then that's normal. Writes take longer than reads, so basically the hard drive's maxxed out.

Yup, it can't read the file fast enough so frames are being skipped/slowed.
