    Second graphics card problems

    HI,

I'm trying to get a 3 screen set up on my machine using 2 graphics card, I have a PCI-E BFG nVidia 7600GT running 2 monitors and am trying to use a Sapphire Radeon 7000 series PCI card to run a TV off...

Once the card is in and the machine is booted up I can install the PCI card and get all 3 screens running as i want them, but as soon as I restart the machine it fails on the XP loading screen and give me a blue screen.

This happens with when i'm using the drivers from the CD or the ones XP finds automatically. Does anyone have any ideas why this happens? What I can do to fix it?

    TIA
    Cheers

    Sav

Just going to replicate the error so I can properly note down what the Blue Screen says.

Nvidia and ATI drivers/cards on the same machine is a recipe for headaches, try using the same of each

Gah... thought it'd be something like that, will have to try and track down a cheap nVidia PCI card.

    Cheers.

The blue screen was a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION one... but thats probably Window's way of saying hardware problem...

    Re: Second graphics card problems

I would uninstall the ati, and if there were any drivers installed clean them out, and hunt down the nvidia card

I assume you've tried downloading the latest drivers for both cards?

    Re: Second graphics card problems

It's best to have two cards and one driver package installed. Even mixing different drivers for GPUs - even same vendor - on single system can cause problems.
So before buying new PCI card check with current drivers if device will be supported.
