    This might sound silly but just checking, as it's not too clear from your post, that you are connecting as follows;

    pc > modem > router

    That is to say you are connecting your pc to your modem and then the modem to the back of the router. If you can just clarify that bit it would be useful.

    Hi i have connected it in this manner

    virgin modem -> router "internet port"
    Router port 1 -> PC 1

    Wireless ->PC2

    Now i am using the router wirelessly(2nd pc) but the pc that i have connected directly is not able to access the internet or the Control panel 192.168.1.1

    I phoned the linksys customer service and after 1 hr of talking and doing resets,pings,reboots etc he finally hang up,hw rude?

    Re: Problem with linksys WRT54GL router

    Just to be clear, are neither the wired or wirelessly connected PC's working when connecting to the router? (your second post seems to confuse things a little!)
    The simplest thing I guess would be to do a factory reset on your Linksys and try again.
    Try sticking with the wired connection whilst testing to simplify things.
    Are you using a normal network cable to connect to the router (i.e not a cross-over cable)?
    The first thing to check is whether you're getting a DHCP address from the router as you need to be able to get to the admin page before you can do anything else.

    Think I might be getting this!!......does the first pc have a wireless network card as the second pc has??.....if not, and you want them both wireless, you will need to get it one.

    Re: Problem with linksys WRT54GL router

    The problem now is no direct connection can be enabled to pc1 .I can now use wireless internet connection on both pc's but thats not what i wanted.

    I used a Dlink router before which took me only 5 min to configure and get online.I have been after this a whole day and it still refuses to obey.

    Just to clarify all the connections have been made properly and i have checked it several times.

    I dont know if this is a hardware or a software fault.I might contact my retalier for a replacement or a money back.

    Re: Problem with linksys WRT54GL router

    Ok, so if it's just the wired access that's the problem I'd be checking your cable (have you tried using a different one?).

    So you get a link light on the front of the router when you connect the network cable to your PC?

    Update the firmware to the latest one before doing any trouble shooting

    Re: Problem with linksys WRT54GL router

    So once you're connected over the wireless, can you then reach the management page for the router (192.168.1.1 or similar)?
    Take a look at the Network Setup section and make sure all the DHCP settings look normal.
    A temporary work-around would be to try and enter a static address for the PC (high enough so that it doesn't accidentally interfere with existing leases, 192.168.1.20 for example) and seeing whether that works.
