yea, there's a button on the mouse and you can change between 800dpi, 1600dpi and 2200dpi. i keep it on 1600dpi . i tried all of them in game and it still seemed to do it.

    Re: ARGH mouse annoyance...

Personally I'd say you were moving the mouse when you click, try changing your mousing surface to something a little less slippy (like a desk top).

Also, it doesn't take that much longer to type out a post with a better standard of grammar & spelling! Think of it as a useful life skill that'll actually help you in the working world later on. Always handy to put on a standard office mook application "can type 60-70 wpm"

    Re: ARGH mouse annoyance...

i had this with an old phiilips mouse on my old pc. It'd randomly start spinning at any point in any game, and would shoot up to the top of the screen on desktop. Never found out what was causing it though.

Maybe if you tried cleaning the wee sensor bit or your mousemat?

    Re: ARGH mouse annoyance...

It is a problem with the infra red sensors on the bottom of the mouse, i had it on 3 different mice (2 x intellimouse2 and a razer). maybe its picking up a signal from a tv remote lying around?

I also remember it only happening if you move the mouse very slightly, as in fine adjustments on sniper scopes in games. Try putting the sensitivity down a bit, and move the mouse around more.

i also tried cleaning it with all sorts of stuff and none of it worked, it still spun around. mine did it in windows aswell... the way i sorted it was to buy a logitech G5 laser mouse. no infra red = no spinning.

    Re: ARGH mouse annoyance...

Could it just be a faulty mouse.

My dad's Microsoft mouse started behaving strangely. I did all sorts of driver re-installs and spyware sweeps, because I had assumed that optical mice lasted forever, but in the end I just swapped the mouse and it fixed the problem.

I don't think its a faulty mouse, just faulty infra red sensor technology, because why would they make mice with lasers , if infra red worked??

theres 5 different mice mentioned in this thread, that all have the same problem.

I think it's something to do with moving the mouse a very small distance, less than 1mm, this confuses the sensor into thinking its spinning around. whether it only does this when the cpu load is above a certain amount, and its a driver problem aswell, i am yet to find out, although in GTA vice city, my mouse spun around merrily when i blew on it or banged the table.

    Re: ARGH mouse annoyance...

hmm well i dont think im moving it because i kept it as still as i could and right clicked and it still did it. Its an odd problem because ive noticed that when i press the right button in, it moves around, and when i release it, it moves again. if i keep clicking it, after a while it will only move around 1mm on the screen, but after a few minutes of gameplay, the problem will start again. i dont have this problem in call of duty 4 so i dont understand.

oh and by the way, my mouse is a lazer mouse and it is wired. so i doubt it is interference . i hope i solve this because i just ordered unreal tournament 3 and itll really p*** me off if it does it in tht.
    hmmm
