    Storage Solutions inc. Backup

In another thread I mentioned that my striped RAID set just died. I'm thinking about how best to treat my data more carefully from now on.

I have three types of data:

    1) Scratchpad data which I can afford to lose, e.g. my Windows install.
Needs to be fast access. I'm thinking of a simple SATA in my desktop PC.

    2) Movies and TV shows, which I stream to XBMC then to my TV
I currently have these on a large network disk. Perhaps a Drobo would be a good investment.

    3) Photos and home movies
Here I'm not sure. Until now I've regularly backed them up to DVD, but it relies on me remembering. I was thinking about using the Drobo, or offsite backup (Amazon S3 or Dropbox).

Anyone got a system that works well for them?

I've used carbonite for offsite stuff before - its not bad and ticks over in the background.

Online Backup: Easy, Completely Automatic. Secure. Carbonite.
