    Windows server 2003 R2 Install

    Hi all,

I have to install & setup Windows server Small Business Premium 2003 R2 to server as a webserver & in-home multi-media server. Anyone know a good source of information/which books etc. I am fairly ok in these areas but really struggle for time and want a simple, straight forward approach.

I also have a seperate installtion job - office environment, file sharing & once again, web hosting.

Both web hosting use MS SQL which comes with Premium edition & both to use MS Exchange.

Or, any experts in the Nottingham/Derby area - will pay for some consultation.

This all depends what you want to do. If you want to stream media to devices I would advise you not to use 2003 server as it has no UPnP support

not streaming, but media server in the terms of sharing media over other computers - this I guess is simply setting up shared AD but it's more the overall picture - mainly web hosting / AD / Exchange / MS SQL usage. Do I use DHCP or not etc. I have the Vigor 2910VG router. I need a good guide to follow or knowlegable consultant. I don't want to muggle through and find I made a mistake on the initial setup and cause issues.

How many users are we talking about, how much data are you expecting to have to host, how many hits per day do you expect to get?

If you don't think you can do it yourself I would advise you to get a company to do it for you. I would also advise you to host a website via a hosting company, its so much easier and as they are conected to HUGE pipes there will be no issues with bandwidth.

Re: Windows server 2003 R2 Install

not many users and not a large website currently but we already have all the stuff; and I am sure I could do it over time; but we want it done quickly and I am struggling for time (new family, 2x houses being built, full time job) and just need some guidance. To pay for exchange, sql hosting etc. is quite expensive and as we have the relevant hardware/software already, it's not really the best option. It's also something I want to do - to get the knowledge so either a good guide to recommend or consultant who would be available is what I am after. Thanks for the info though.
