Blue screen on pc

Hi i have a computer which is about 5yrs old and a few month back i put a 8800 graphics card from 8500 in. the card i went for supported the motherboards under 2.0.

My computer met all the specifations to go with this graphics card.
I followed all the intructions that came with it how to instal it safley.

The problem then came when the PC started up got to the area where windows starts up and a blue screen came up. it turned up after that it had corrupted everything on the computer.

im wondering is it possible if i could fix a corrupt computer and get it back to a normal working computer. Sadly the boot cds that came with it im unsure where the disk are to boot the computer up and if there is anyway pass this.

any help or information will be great.

if i have to spend a bit of money to get bits I don't want to spend to much at all and could you tell me what bits i need if it comes to this.

what exactly did the BSOD say?
and what did you mean by corrupted? does it not boot any more? not power up? or harddrives not bootable/readable?

Hi i seem to have got the corrupt problem over with now seems like the computer starts normal but when starting up the problem i have got is no sound and says i got no dvd decoder instaled.

Im currantly using windows xp on the computer and if im going to fix it do you think i should change it over to vista.
