    XP Can't See Vista

Okay I was dual booting Vista and Xp fine of two seperate hard drives but then my vista hard drive decided it is finished with so before it craps out i copied the disc image to the xp hard drive and am now dual booting them both off of one disc fine. But now when i boot into xp it can see the vista partition if i go to disc management but in my computer it isn't there so I can't copy or play files from vista in Xp. Anyone know how to solve this?

    Re: XP Can't See Vista

You might need to allocate a drive letter to the Vista partition in disk manager.

    Re: XP Can't See Vista

Which one is the active partition?

For info, unless things have changed radically over the past year, Vista still uses NTFS (I had an upgrade version and that never offered to rewrite the file system as WinFS) as my understanding was that WinFS was dropped because of technical issues.

oh, right, sorry I hadn't read your post carefully enough...

what do you see in Disk Manager?

does the partition show up as empty space?

    Re: XP Can't See Vista

WinFS is not a file system, it's a storage engine that sits on top of the file system.

If the Vista drive has a letter allocated under XP can you access it from command line?
