The F1 Options Menu allows you to change settings relating to detail of test, whether cache is used and how many loops you want it to do. If you set it to 0 it loops infinitely.

Re: Windows Vista Home Premium Memory Diagnostics Tool Problem

For anyone else with this issue, I can confirm that the command " bcdedit /bootsequence {memdiag} /remove " entered at command prompt (accessed using the Windows Vista installation disc and selecting repair options) will resolve the issue of constant looping.

I do not believe however that it will prevent it from looping in the future if I try to use the tool again, but that's just me letting you know.

Next I have to work out why one of my DVDRW drives has stopped opening, there was a disk stuck in it and I had to use that little hole on the front of the fascia to get it open. When I opened it the green light started flashing (which is a good sign), but as soon as I closed it again it stopped flashing and could not be opened. The only way to open it is by inserting a small screw driver into the little hole. If I put a disc into the drive the drive acts as though it is dead.

I mean that I have had Vista since day 1 of the public release and that I've had far fewer problems with it than I had with XP - especially hardware related ones.

Okay, some drivers weren't around to start off with - but in those cases I found the XP ones usually worked.

I like Vista - using XP now seems like going backwards - like when you had got used to XP, then used Win95/98 again.

Glad you got your looping sorted.

May be worth checking your BIOS settings for voltage to your memory modules. I had a problem like this and it was caused by the voltage being set too low. That's if you have the option?

Thank you for the suggestion, I will keep that in mind if I try this again.
