how to take off akasa paxmate

ok so ive tried boiling water and scraping it off but thats just scratching everything and not really working, iv got no clue how to get this stuff off. Right now iv got the top layer of black foamy stuff off but im left with all the glue so iv put oven cleaner on it to see what that does. I made the mistake 2 years ago when i coverd my tj07 in the stuff, i hate the sight of it and im now paying the price. Got any suggestions ?? cheers.

Re: how to take off akasa paxmate

Would a hot air/heat gun work, melt the glue and then it may come off easily, rather than the scraping method. Hopefully it wouldn't melt anything other than the glue though.. you might want to look into that.

They can be pricey I think but b and q have some for £15..

Try a hair dryer on it whilst scraping with some white spirit.

Steer clear of oven cleaner - it is caustic and will attack aluminium - it isn't a solvent either, so it probably won't do anything to the glue. Be carful with nail varnish remover - it can attack some plastics.

You could try a label remover - RS (rswww.com) sell one - stock number 496-215 - dissolves the glue on paper labels and the like - and sellotape!

Re: how to take off akasa paxmate

ok first of all THANKS to those who commented, i went to focus today and got a heat gun for £15 b'cos the hair dryer did nothing, i also picked up some white spirits (focus £2 jobby) like someone commented, guys thanks so much this combo worked a treat, gun got most of the glue off but it seemed like the metal was still sticky even tho it looked fine so i rubbed white spirit over it, waited 1 min then took a wallpaper scraper and it fell right off really easy, thanks you all so much my lesson is well and truely learned about this akasa crap !!
