Laptop Sound Issue/price check

Hi guys, my brother has a laptop that he wants to sell, its a few years old:- VGN-FS315S - the condition of it is excellent except for the sound, there was a problem with the 3.5mm jack that didn't always work unless you "wiggled" the headphone plug around, and my brother did too much of this, which led to the onboard speakers to fail aswell. How much could he sell this laptop without sound?

the problem my brother has could be solved with a 30 quid laptop sound card need be, but of course sound fully working is desirable. i'm wondering if there's any way i can open and fix it myself...or buy a 30 quid sound card and throw it in with the laptop to get a better price?

any ideas much appreciated.

sounds like the headphone jack just needs resoldering (unless it's broken), should be fairly easy to do if your confident at taking it apart and sony ones are generally quite easy to disassemble

I'm gonna attempt it later in the day i think. i just found a service manual for it so should help.
