    What I don't understand is how come ebuyer have had stock of the XP version for pretty much the whole of August so far but none of the linux version? Anyone have any suggestions?

    Also am curious why clove are showing the EEE Box as £200 for XP and £350 (pre order only) for linux?

    There doesn't seem to be anyone in the industry is writing about why the linux version is so rare. If I was to speculate I'd say MS are paying ASUS to not make the thing in Linux but that's a bit too paranoid perhaps so I'd be interested to hear other opinions.

    There has been a lot of speculation on eeeuser.com centring primarily around two possibilities;
    a) there was a linux specific problem with the atom
    b) MS had persuaded them to delay

    opinion on (a) was mainly sceptical given many others had reported no problems with similar distros and chipsets

    I am not sure I have seen any hard evidence, but I have seen so much manipulation by MS over the years - that's where my suspicions lie too.

    yr comment on Clove is strange - just checked today all 901s of various colours and religions in stock and @ 255
    - pretyy much what I paid for my white linux 901
