    slow windows load

    Hi

I have just installed a new motherboard (and extra 2gb of RAM) and now windows is taking ages to load (about 20 mins!). When I first turned it on after putting the new hardware in it took only a couple of seconds to load, but this problem has happened since it updated all the drivers automatically. Also, I changed the BIOS to optimal default at the same time so it may be that, i just don't know!

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Justin

    Re: slow windows load

There's a number of things you can try

    1) Try disconnecting things like the Ethernet Cable, Printer, etc and see if it boots any quicker, sometimes there can be a delay looking for devices, shouldn't be 20 mins though

    2) Download and run a program called bootvis - not sure if it works with Vista though, it will tell you what processes are taking which time and optimise boot time.

    3) Check event log in administrative tools in control panel see if any entries there

    Good luck !

    Re: slow windows load

if you swapped motherboard without uninstlaling all the old drivers 1st you will get problems, see what needs removing in add/remove, if that doesnt help try a windows repair, if you still have problems its backup and format time im afraid.

last options always the best after a new mobo
