The step mother is running a business from home and would like a phone number that isnt a mobile phone, nor a new landline installed.
any ideas ?
Think its for incoming calls only tbh.

the games company i work for have a number that you have to phone and sign into, it will then divert calls to your home number.
its handy for the various support staff as anyone can login and use that number.
im not sure who we use but this came up on google http://www.touchdownoffices.com/tnumber.asp
The other alternative is an answering service; There's plenty of them out there. We use Star 21 to field initial calls and overflow calls.
They also do 0845 and various other numbers, which you can route to your home number.
What about a VoIP number? You can get one with your local area code free from Sipgate; there are no charges AFAIK for incoming calls (which sounds like the main use). She'll need broadband, of course.

^^ Leggie that sounds like what shes after, will look into it now
Leggie, if i was gay ide give it to you. Thats awesome dude ive just set it up on my pc to test, got a local number for free ! works perfect.
Gonna install it on their pc tonight, then in a week or so will order the SIP hardware tool that plugs into the router so no need for a pc.
Looks like youv'e already done it - but another vote for Sipgate here - I have a number for a virtual phone on the laptop, and another for a grandstream VoIP hardware phone.
