    Smile TV for my Mum!

So, the old dear has finally decided she wants a new TV after years of watching a knackered old Phillips (buzzing etc).

As the family expert on Technology she assumes I know what to get. Problem is I haven't owned a TV since I was 18!

She's got £300, looking for reliability/warrenty which is the big issue as its taken her a while to save that much money. Must be black, with 1 HDMI and 1 scart as minimum, pref 2 scart. The poor old girl has no idea about technology, and just wants something to play her DVDs and VHS tapes! Side question, how does recording (on VHS tape) work with built in freeview?

Would prefer around 26-32", but most of the decent brands seem to be limited to 22 or 24" in this price range (Samsung etc). I've found this for £280. Any thoughts? I've emailed Ebuyer to ask about warrenty, but as I'm not familiar with the brand I can assume 12 months or so.

    Suggestions and comments most welcome.

I bought one of these last christmas time - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...v|12108813.htm

Cracking picture and sound quality I've had no problems with it in the time I've had it either, the three year warranty I got with it the time might put it a bit out of your price range though because if memory serves it was about £40.

Cheers for the suggestions guys, the max she will spend is £300, and would ideally like a Freeview tuner built in.

    Re: TV for my Mum!

That looks ideal, just gotta convince her to spend the extra for the warrenty! Nice one.

Samsung 32a456/7 is the next model up, and as they are all being made end of line to make way for the B series, should be able to get a deal
