    Question Dell Dimension 5000

Hi Folks, would appreciate some advice pls. A friend has the above machine which is failing to start. Running through Dell diagnostics it fails when the graphics card is in place - PCI Express x16, I believe an SE 128mb Radeon. When the card is not present, the machine starts.

Can I use any suitable graphics card or must it be Dell supplied?

    Appreciate the help.

Any PCI Express x16 card will be fine, just be aware if there is a PCI-Express power connector which the more powerful cards require is available. If not ensure you get a card which doesn't require one. Might be worth making sure that's not the problem at the moment and that it's become unplugged - it'll likely be a six pin connector.
