About LinkBacksI've just got a debit card which is a Visa one, yet Scan only lets you take Visa Electron from the drop down list of cards during the payment section. Do I need a Visa Electron card to buy stuff off Scan then ?

I've just got a debit card which is a Visa one, yet Scan only lets you take Visa Electron from the drop down list of cards during the payment section. Do I need a Visa Electron card to buy stuff off Scan then ?

same thing, they dropped the electron part a while ago.
scan should have updated it to visa debit.

Oddly enough, I have a Visa Debit card that is, according to the local theatre, actually an Electron card and they don't take them... weird, innit?

Visa Electron is not the same thing as Visa Debit, it checks for availablity of funds before transfer rather than just debiting the account and letting the bank sort out whether it's overdrawn or not.
That means a lot of places don't accept Electron because they don't have the system that allows fund checking. Most UK banks don't issue Electron cards anymore.
That's what I thought was odd... it says Visa Debit on the card yet the booking office told me it was Visa Electron... first place I've had any issues with it but then I've only had the card two months, if that.
I also didn't know what to select (for a visa debit), so I paid using paypal last time I used scan.
often in that case oyu can put it through as a standard visa credit card, i have had to do that at a couple of places and it worked without issue.
the credit checks done at the same time as the "is this allowed to be used" check
They both work fine,
had an electron last year, now i have a standard visa, both work fine. Both follow same steps.

If you have Visa Credit or Debit cards please just select Visa. The electron option is for Electron cards only.

But the picture says 'Visa Electron' and the list box lets you select 'Visa Delta' - Not just 'Visa' or 'electron' . Maybe it should just be simplified, updated and/or have all options added ?
So... I can use my Visa only debit card if I select 'Visa Delta' as my card type ?

Yes VISA Debit used to be called VISA Delta it is the same thing.

Hi Guys,
The logo's have been updated and the drop down menu will be updated shortly, in the meantime once you select Debit Card you can use the Visa Delta selection for any type of Visa Debit card including Electron.
