    Odd GFX Glitches....

    I think my gfx card is faulty but need to just check;

    This is totally random but what i get are red lines/red blocks on the screen(i can almsot still see the screen behind them), the machine will keep working for most of the time but it's now started to hard lock up more.

    The card is a Gainward ATI 4850 and i've had it less then a year.

    If the card has gone faulty ( which i suspect ) i might instead of trying to get it replaced get a different card any reconmendations for in the region of 100 - 140 ?

    I would look to RMA the card first. Regarding a replacement card I would look to get an HD5770 as an HD4870 or GTX260 would require too much power to run off the 350W PSU in the SN26P and HD5770 should have lower power requirements than an HD4850 AFAIK.

    Edit!!

    I would also look at the voltages on the 3.3V,5V and 12V lines to makes sure that the PSU is not having issues as this can contribute to problems with your graphics card.

    Slight problem; it was not baught from a store.

    Gainward tell you to go through the store it was baught from.

    Am not sure what there stance is on a item baught new in the box from a ebay store :/

    CAT-THE-FIFTH, voltages are stable, the card does this red block / red line trick when under load and not.

    How does the HD5570 compare to the HD5840 ?

    Just a update:

    I've put my old X1950Pro back in and the machine has not locked once or displayed any red blocks.

    I also took the time to track the seller down, they are listed has a "Business Seller" so i will try and get them to do a refund / replacement first but am not holding out much luck on this.
