    No beeps when booting

    Hello,

I've got a slight (if not serious) issue since I got my mobo changed.

I first had a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4, in an Antec Sonata Plus case. It was defective, but that isn't the point. The point is, when it booted, it gave a single beep (so as to say that everything was fine (heh)) and then would continue POSTing and all.

I've had it swapped for an MA790X-UD3P, and it doesn't beep when I boot. On the motherboard there are pins to connect a speaker, but the case user manual doesn't say anything about a speaker, so I doubt it has one. The old mobo (790X-UD4) also had same pins for the speaker, but beeped.

    Any thoughts?

On my motherboard there is an onboard speaker which can be set to beep if you set the jumper to turn it on.

May be there's a similar jumper on yours?

    Re: No beeps when booting

Will look up the manual for it, we'll see.

Edit: nothing in the manual. Any other thoughts?

You can buy a separate, tiny speaker for them. If i had one spare i would mail it to you. Used to have a few lying around.

    Re: No beeps when booting

If your case has no built in speaker or your motherboard has no onboard speaker then you need to buy your own unfortunately.
